Hello!

I can hardly swim, and I’m too slow on front crawl/stroke.

How can I swim faster?

I have changed 3 instructors so far and have been learning swimming for the 2 years, practicing 3 days a week. Still I am not able to swim a lap. I do not want to give up after investing so much money, time and effort. I would like to know if there is any technique that I can try that will help me. I have been using TI method too. Does not appear to be helping much. My problem is when I try to breathe, instead of rolling I lift my head and I start to sink.

Any help is appreciated.

i can with breaststroke, however in front crawl it feels like there is too much pressure on my lungs and lose air awfully fast. any tips? regards
i do but the pressure feels too much and I cannot do it

About how far do pro swimmers swim per second doing the front crawl?

Thanks and have a great day!!!

I was curious, I don’t plan to swim after I graduate high school in about 1 1/2 years for college. I’m pretty burned out and it took too much of my time, though I will still swim but just for the health benefits. I was wondering, how much do you lose in muscle weight from being a swimmer? I swam butterfly a lot for the most part and I know normally you gain tons of muscles from doing that event. Around the shoulders, stomach, thighs, and the rib areas but not much of calves like breaststrokers though. I was wondering…normally how much muscles do swimmers who stop swimming competitively normally lose? I’m currently 5’4 1/2 and about 125, all muscle and about 5% body fat. I don’t do weights or anything. I started taking up running and continue to do so if I don’t get to swim often at the gym. Just curious from any swimmer, normally someone my height is supposed to weigh about 110 or about 112, so is the definite answer that when I stop swimming I will lose all of my muscles?

I’m 19. I started going for swimming lessons about 2 months ago to perfect my strokes. I initially was afraid of swimming in the deeper ends of the swimming pool (2 metres) but now I’ve finally overcome that fear and have begun swimming laps.

However, I feel I’m quite slow- yesterday, I did 16 laps in 45 minutes (8 freestyle, 8 breaststroke) and I rested for about 30-60 seconds in after each lap.

How many laps should I be doing in 45 minutes? Is there a number I can work towards?

Any tips for swimming faster?

Thank you very much!
